Is your web designer letting you down?

Is your web designer letting you down?

So you decided to have a website built or a facelift on your current one, but you aren't getting what you were promised?

You had a consultation with the company you picked to create the all signing all dancing best website you have ever seen and you were wowed by what they told you. Now months down the line the email you were awaiting has arrived to tell you your site is ready! You click on the link to view this amazing creation only to be let down by what is in front of you.

It's missing the some vital bits you spoke about, some of the links aren't working and some of the pages for the links that do work are blank. You wonder what's happened and contact the designer to find:

  • The web designer is a print designer who tried their hand at web design, it's the same principle right?!
  • The web designer didn't listen to you and therefore didn't plan the project according to what you wanted.
  • The web designer didn't test the site before it went live.
  • The web designer used a third party to create the site and didn't pass on the relevant information.

Before you decide to have your website redesigned consider the points above, make sure you do your homework on the company you chose and that they understand the brief before work gets underway. Get regular updates along the way to make sure they are on the right track and it's not all left to after it has gone live.

A good website developer will design a site to your brief and using their expertise will explain what they are doing and why. They will keep you informed on each step along the way and regularly check back with you for feedback, making sure you are happy from start to finish. A good website developer would not let a site go live without testing it.
